Closing Forums With A Final Thought

It’s always good to wrap up a Forum meeting together and on a high note. A way to achieve a positive Forum closing is by including a “Final Thought” section as the last item on the agenda. Here’s some Moderator language you can use when setting up the “Final Thought” section:

“As we close out our monthly Forum meeting, let’s end with each person sharing a final thought about where they are at emotionally, mentally, and physically after having gone through the Forum process together. Ideally, you use more than a few words, but try to keep your reflection to under 20 seconds so we can get to dinner on time.”

Then go around the Forum and have each person share their final thought. The end result is usually an uplifting spirit of how valuable the Forum experience was for them and appreciation for everyone in the group.
