A Metaphor For Coaching

A Metaphor For Coaching

Coaching is like walking on a city street. The presenter might think that the street they are on now is the core challenge, but your job as their coach is to explore each side street you pass and see if the real core challenge is on another street and not the one you are on now. Often times, the core challenge someone starts with ends up not being the final challenge after the coaching call for three main reasons:

  1. They start with multiple core challenges, and you help them narrow down to one.
  2. They start with multiple core challenges, and you help them zoom out and find a bigger core challenge that encompasses all the smaller challenges.
  3. In talking it out with you and finding clarity, they realize they have a totally different core challenge.

Remember, as the coach, your job is to answer these two questions by the end of the coaching session > https://bit.ly/3vgGrJC
