In normal Forum flow, after someone finishes talking, there is usually a small gap of silence, which I’m calling The Void.
Us humans don’t like to have silence linger too long in group settings, so someone is going to jump in and grab The Void.
As the Moderator of the Forum, your job is to jump in and grab The Void before anyone else does so you can keep the meeting moving forward according to the agenda.
If you don’t grab The Void, someone else will and another few minutes of time will be used up. Those minutes add up when you consider how many times a void occurs throughout a normal 4 hour Forum meeting.
